Orestias cuvieri:

In the Lake Titicaca on the border between Bolivia and Peru at the height of 12,505 feet (3812 meters) there used to be a unique fish called Orestias cuvieri. It had a flat head crowned with by 2 large eyes. It was capable of a length of 12 inches (30 cm) this fish was used a lot for food. In 1937, 100 years after the discovery of the fish the North American Great Lake trout was introduced and the predator quickly killed the fish. There have been many attempts to bring back the fish Orestias cuvieri into this world but they have been unsuccessful.
