The Addax:

The Addax lives in the sandy deserts of the Sahara in Africa. It can live in the parts of the deserts where even a camel cannot live. An Addax can stay without drinking water for weeks or even months. It gets all the water it needs from the plants it eats.

The Addax belongs to the antelope family. It changes color according to the seasons. In winter it's coat is grayish -  brown and in summer it's coat is milky white. It is about a meter high and it's curly horns are more than a meter long. It has a short tail which looks like a small rope. It eats small plants and grass in the desert.

It is in danger mainly because of hunting by the people in the desert. Only a few thousand addax are still alive.

The Greater Bamboo Lemur:

The Greater Bamboo lemur is one of the many species of lemur for in the rainforest on the island of Madagascar just off the coast ofmainland Africa. Its diet consists mainly of bamboo as its name suggests and it eats little else.

The Lemur is quite big in size compared of other species of its kind. It is also heavier than other lemur species. It is usually found high in the trees but has also been seen on the ground.

The Greater Bamboo Lemur is critcally endangered and there are only believed to be 1000 left in the wild. The reason for this state of almost extinction is because of the massive amount of deforestation taking place in the area. The loss of trees is a loss of habitat for the lemurs and they are not able to cope. Another reason for a radical drop of numbers in recent years is that the bamboo that they feed on is being chopped down. At the current rate of decline these furry creatutures will be gone in a few years time.
