The
Tiger:
The
tiger is a fierce animal. It belongs to the cat family. They hunt
and live alone. They climb very well.
Tigers are very good
hunters. They kill small animals such as deer, cattle for food.
A tiger can eat a deer in one day but it takes about three days
to eat a buffalo . To store their food for another day they hide
it under the leaves and grass.
The tigers are in
trouble because of cutting down the forests and hunting. They are
hunted for their beautiful skins. In 1939 there were about
30,000 tigers in India , but today there are only 3,000.
The
snow leopard:
Snow
leopards live high up in the cold, rocky mountains of Central Asia.
They belong to the cat family. They have gray fur with black spots
shaped like rings.
Snow leopard isn't
as big as a lion or a tiger, but it is still a very large cat. An
adult snow leopard is often more than two meters long. A snow leopard
likes to live and hunt alone. Each snow leopard has it's own
small cave where it sleeps. It hunts wild goats and other small
animals that lives in the mountains. It usually feeds for several
days on an animal it has killed. It guards the dead animal from
vultures and crows.
Snow leopards are
sometimes killed by the farmers when they attack the sheep or goats.
But the main danger to it is from hunters who hunt for it's
beautiful, silky and furry skin. Those handsome animals are becoming
very rare.
